Configuring: Rename Fields
Configuring this operation only entails selecting which fields you want to rename.
Steps to configure
-
Field selection: Select the fields you want to rename.
-
Name changes: Rename the fields.
-
Execute: Fields are renamed, and added to the dataset.
Step 1: Field selection
Select the required fields from the list of available fields.
-
Default: The fields that can be selected will be listed in the [Available] window.
-
Minimum configuration required: at least one field must be selected.
Step 2: Name changes
Enter the new field name.
-
The name entered must be a valid name.
-
The user cannot rename two or more fields to the same name.
-
If an invalid name has been entered, or a name has been repeated, it will automatically be corrected once the user clicks outside of the text box. The method used to correct is "append and increment". The repeated name will be appended with a character, and incremented resulting in a name that is unique.
-
If the field name is the maximum allowed length (126 characters) and it already exists, the appended number will then replace the last letter to make the name unique.
-
The page only displays 10 fields at a time, to access the next 10 fields, press the next button.
-
Default settings: the name being displayed is the original name of the field.
-
Minimum configuration required: you can't leave the field text box empty.
Step 3: Execute
The dataset with the renamed fields will be generated. All data values remain the same as no processing is performed on the data values.
